Best laid plans ...

It was a fun idea, sadly my execution was lacking.

The idea was that Amy, photo-a-day co-conspirator, and I would take a picture of ourselves taking pictures of each other.. Fun idea but my picture was blurry and the flash did bad things. Here it is anyway:
My other idea, to get a picture of the admin side of things at the start of the club, was at least in focus but it was too crowded and there wasn't enogh time for a good shot.

So, today's picture is my "safety shot" from this morning - pre-swim. I swim again on Friday but won't take another picture involving a swim cap (should have been my January theme!). I do have an idea for Friday's picture, hopefully it turns out.

Run Home

As with Amy, I'm doing a theme a month for the photo a day challenge. Not sure how I'll come up with 12 themes but I can't think of anything I want to take 366 pictures of. At least I know what I want to do for February (I live in Vancouver - take a wild guess what it'll be!).

January's theme is "Start of Training Season." Today's shot is from my run home:

I'm still figuring out my camera (part of the reason for doing this challenge) and am having issues focussing on what I want to be the focal point of a picture. Apologies for the fuzziness.
The run was great, and I managed to get home in time to catch the end of the first period of the Juniors final. Yikes! Second period just started, gotta go!!!

Shock to the System

Pre-swim breakfast cooking at oh-dark-hundred.

First day back at work today after two weeks of doing very little - it was a bit rough. Probably shouldn't have thrown in an easy treadmill run and what was supposed to be a short, easy swim before hitting work. When I got to the pool a couple of folks from my masters class (which starts next week) were doing a reasonably intense set so of course I had to join in.
By noon it was very hard to keep my eyes open! Hopefully tomorrow will be easier.

Tunes

I've been in need of new music, I haven't had anything that's really grabbed me in a while. Happily the end of the year means lots of "Best of 2009" lists. One was on a clubmate's blog, which had some good suggestions (thanks Rob!).

Another friend suggested I check out Metacritic.com. After going through their best of 2009 list I bought Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective. I haven't had a chance for a really good listen (the IIHF Junior Championships are on and hockey takes precedence) but from what I've heard so far I'm thinking this is going to get a lot of play.

Canada just scored - gotta go!

Tomorrow I'm back to masters so it's a good time to go through my swim gear. I had no idea I had so many swim caps, probably time to thin out my collection.
