I Know Fast People!

Triathlon Canada announced their Athlete of the Year Awards today. In reading the news I was thrilled to find not one but two people I know who were named, one is a full club member and one is an honourary club member:

2007 Olympic Distance award winners include ... Vancouver’s Rachel McBride, who won in the Age Group 18-39 category

In Off-Road – Triathlon ... Kristina Bangma of Vancouver won the award in the Age Group 18-39 category

I'm thrilled to be associated with such greatness! Congratulations ladies.

Well, Alision you may have a contender in your interest in running. Your cousin Duane's son Andrew is really getting into the new Wii Fit game that his mom got last week. He loves the free run which is a 10 min run (jog in place in the house). Andrew's latest distance was 2.2 miles in the 10 minutes. Not bad for a 5 year old.

Pretty cool! Any idea if he's into swimming and biking before he runs??? Yes, I'm always looking for converts!

A poster on a triathlon forum I frequent is currently getting whooped by his kids and his mother at Wii Fit. I'm scared to try it!

Actually Andrew loves to bike. He bikes everyday for at least 40 minutes when we take Brit to school and pick her up. He has been riding without training wheels for over 1 year now and thinks he needs a bike with hand brakes now..... The swimming is probally the hardest one but is coming as he learned to swim in the waves in Maui back in Nov. He seems to beable to swim under water now.

That's excellent. I hear all these studies about inactive kids yet everyone I know seems to be rearing little dynamos.

I got the school photos you sent, btw. A couple of great looking kids, they're growing up so quickly!
